Arthur Hatton Elementary School's Personal Digital Device Use Guidelines and Expectations |
Students will be asked to put Digital devices (phones, earbuds, Smartwatches, etc) in their locker at the start of the school day to the end of the school day including lunch and recess. Phones can NOT be used during the school day - this INCLUDES MUSIC. Students will not be able to reply to text messages during the school day. If there is an emergency, please phone the office at 250-376-7217. Cell phones are a huge distraction to learning and student engagement is significantly impacted by use during the school day. Inappropriate use during class time (texting, social media, games, etc) is unnecessary and digital devices will be taken away for the remainder of the day. Students who have difficulty following this rule will have their devices confiscated for a longer period of time and will be referred to the office. At times, devices may be used with teacher permission for educational purposes. |
